I love Old Navy's trendy and accessible styles, so I was excited to spot the puff-sleeve linen-blend mini dress while browsing.

Although the dress comes in a few different colors and patterns, I chose the white option with a light-blue floral design.

This dress looked nice on the rack, but I was even more pleased once I tried it on.

The silhouette of the dress fell nicely along my curves, which I found flattering. I also liked the structured square neckline, side pockets, and the buttons down the front.

However, I noticed that the thread on a couple of buttons was fraying slightly, which made me question whether it would hold up beyond the summer.

The material was comfortable and lightweight, made from a blend of 55% linen and 45% viscose rayon. That said, the fabric was a bit sheer, and I could see the outline of the pockets through the dress. So, I'd be a little concerned about it becoming see-through in direct sunlight.

Overall, though, I loved the dress and would wear it for multiple summer occasions. I would happily pay the $45 price, as it's a perfect style for weekend barbecues, brunches, and garden parties.

Considering Banana Republic's upscale aesthetic, I knew I could count on the brand for stylish resort wear finds.

I was immediately drawn to the linen-blend seamed bodice mini dress on the rack, thanks to its beautiful yellow hue and flattering A-line silhouette.

The color and pattern of the dress were bold yet elegant, and the deep-V-neckline added an eye-catching touch. The Banana Republic option was made from almost the same blend as the Old Navy dress — 55% linen and 45% rayon.

Overall, the design was lightweight and flattering, and I loved the subtle cinch at the waist and the pleating across the midsection.

However, my one gripe with this dress was the $120 price tag. Although it was nicely made and well-constructed, I wouldn't pay triple digits for it.

Gap has pleasantly surprised me over the past few years with its versatile selection of basics and fashion-forward clothing.

Upon walking in, the flutter-sleeve tie-waist mini dress immediately grabbed my attention. The material seemed thinner than the others, but that's not necessarily a bad thing when it comes to staying cool in the peak of summer.

I was pleasantly surprised by how this dress looked on me. I especially appreciated the adjustable waist tie, and I loved the V-neckline and flowy sleeves paired with the pleated hemline on the skirt.

It looked romantic yet modest, which would be appropriate for a range of summer events like family gatherings or bridal showers.

However, the delicate fabric, which turned out to be 100% rayon, seemed like it might easily rip or get damaged in the wash.

The Gap dress cost $55. It wasn't terribly overpriced, but I don't think the cost was fully justified considering the fabric composition.

I'd wear every option I tried on, but the Old Navy sundress turned out to be my favorite for its overall design, fit, and comfort.

It was the most affordable, yet also super flattering, and I could easily see myself wearing it for multiple occasions.

Raffia, a natural fiber made from the leaves of raffia palm trees, looks great on summer bags. That's why woven totes from Loewe, Sézane, and other designers are everywhere this season.

Other materials, though, translate better all year round.

The braided Le Click bag from Alaïa is just one example. It's crafted with black leather, embellished with gold hardware, and costs $6,250.

Everyone seems to love The Row's $1,350 Barn tote, which is basically a luxury version of a classic mesh shopping bag.

But if you want to carry something a little more unique — and spend a few hundred dollars less — there are other standout options.

The Denim Market Tote from 3.1 Phillip Lim is one of them. It retails for $795, is embellished with leather flower appliqués, and comes with a detachable pouch.

While encrusted bags from Cult Gaia and Khaite might be trendy, no brand does embellishments quite like Schiaparelli.

Designs like its Mini Nose bag — which retails for 4,100 euros, or about $4,800 — are optimal for luxe, quiet-luxury looks that are contemporary, but not overly flashy.

The bag is made from black calfskin and has a pink leather interior.

Jil Sander, Jacquemus, and Fendi have made medicine bags mainstream, especially as work bags. The purses are usually medium in size, full of storage space, and neutral in color.

If you're shopping for one, you might want to consider the $940 Hudson design from Aspinal of London.

The bag is sold in classic colors like tan and black, but it's also available in more fun shades like wine and forest green. It's also crafted from pebbled leather, which automatically gives the bag a worn look without any effort from the carrier.

Dior's saddle bag might have been introduced in 1999, but it's arguably more popular than ever now.

That might be good news for fans who have struggled to get their hands on the original designs. If you want something fresher, though, Ralph Lauren has one option.

The Polo ID bag, which retails for $498, has a symmetrical, crescent shape and is similar in size to the Dior purse. It's also made with suede, one of the most popular fabrics of 2025.

Carrying the Chain Horse bag from Chloé is also one of the easiest ways to stand out.

The bag is almost entirely golden, with a horsebit chain and golden beads across its suede leather. It even features a horse head and tail at each end.

It will cost you, though, as it retails for $9,600.

Her white, double-breasted blazer with a plunging neckline was designed by Jean Paul Gaultier. With this daring look, Cyrus proved she was way ahead of the "no-pants trend," which was most popular between 2016 and 2018. 

Equally bold were her accessories and hair, which included layered necklaces, black-and-white heels, and a short, volumized lob.

The form-fitting dress had a high neckline, long sleeves, and a straight, calf-length skirt. The garment was especially unique thanks to diamond-shaped cutouts on each side that extended from her chest to her legs.

Cyrus completed the look with black pumps, matching nail polish, and short, spiked hair.

Though her Marc Jacobs dress appeared to be see-through at first glance, it actually had a long-sleeved, fishnet overlay atop a nude, sleeveless piece. The outer fabric was also coated with sparkles.

To keep the emphasis on her standout dress, Cyrus opted for a classic beauty look that included black eyeliner, red lipstick, and neutral face products. Her hair, on the other hand, was styled in wispy blonde spikes that showed her brown roots.

She attended a Myspace event in a black bralette-style top, leather jacket, and white pumps. Cyrus also accessorized with a black handbag, layered necklaces, vibrant lipstick, and short blonde hair that was shaved on each side. 

It was her pants, however, that stole the show. The left leg of her pants was made from denim, and the right was made from gray sweatpants. 

First, she wore a strapless, fuzzy leotard designed to look like a gray mouse. Underneath was a nude, two-piece set made from latex, which she wore for her infamous performance with Robin Thicke.

She also wore white Creeper shoes from TUK Footwear, a choker necklace, and tiny space buns atop her head.

The bathing suit — which had a sleeveless crop top and high-cut bottoms — was designed by Markus Lupfer. 

Though she performed in just the two-piece set, heels, and clear accessories, Cyrus later added a white jacket backstage.

The suit — which had long sleeves, a deep, V-shaped neckline, and a high-cut bottom — was covered in fake bills with Cyrus' face on them.

In addition to her outfit, the musician also wore oversize gold chains, a cannabis-leaf charm, and a green choker.

One such look was a black Tom Ford design that showed almost her entire torso. It had see-through long sleeves made from mesh and thick black straps that strategically crisscrossed over her chest.

Cyrus completed the look with a sleek blonde bob and dark eye makeup.

Her black dress, designed by Alexander Wang, had a high neckline, long sleeves, and a floor-length skirt.

It was also covered in gold studs from top to bottom and had four cutouts — two teardrop-shaped ones near the neckline, and larger, half-moon-shaped cutouts across her waist.

In true Moschino style, the quirky dress had a sweetheart neckline and a giant bow that extended into a train. The red, satin gown was also covered in black-and-red hearts made from sequins.

Cyrus also wore black Doc Martens boots decorated with the same heart pattern.

Her sparkling pink outfit included a long-sleeved jacket cropped at the waist, straight-legged pants, and a matching belt with a silver buckle.

Cyrus' boots, on the other hand, were white, though the stars on them were a metallic pink shade.

The blue bow, which she wore as a bralette, had a red heart directly in the middle. She also showed her patriotic side in a red-and-white striped skirt, silver heels, and a pink feather headpiece.

And though she wasn't photographed wearing it, Cyrus also carried a sparkling red, white, and blue top hat.

On the red carpet, she wore a heart-print crop top underneath a sheer, calf-length jacket covered in the same print. She also wore matching lace tights that were entirely see-through over a red pair of underwear.

To complete the look, the musician wore red satin sandals, matching lipstick, and heart-shaped earrings.

She attended an event held by Elton John in an asymmetrical gown partially covered in sparkles and partially made from satin. The latter side was bright pink and resembled Marilyn Monroe's famous gown.

The other side, however, was silver and textured. The long-sleeved gown was also unique thanks to its cutout underneath the neckline and its zig-zag pattern that split the two fabrics.

The halter-style Stella McCartney design also had a mermaid-style skirt and an open back that showed off her tattoos. Cyrus paired the garment with gold necklaces and a short blonde hairstyle.

She arrived on the red carpet in a black Mugler pantsuit, which included pants that flared at the ankles, and an oversize jacket worn without a shirt underneath.

But it was her shoes that really stood out. Cyrus wore vegan heels designed by Bradley Kenneth Eyewear and made by Mink Shoes. They were black sandals with gold-chain straps and two heels in the shapes of her initials: "M" and "C."

For a Tom Ford fashion show, Cyrus wore black satin pants, a black top with a plunging neckline, and a long velvet jacket.

The rest of her look was even bolder. She donned platform boots with sparkling heels, oversize sunglasses, and a big, fuzzy hat.

Her strapless gown, designed by Mugler, was worn over two black undergarments.

Cyrus also wore sheer gloves covered in black beads, strappy sandals, red lipstick, and her new signature mullet.

While leaving a New York City hotel with her mom, Cyrus was photographed in a red calf-length coat, a white scoop-neck shirt, and wide-legged leather pants with silver zippers across each shin.

Of course, a face mask was part of her ensemble, as were oversize sunglasses, layers of necklaces, and a towering top hat with a wide brim. Cyrus also wore black, alligator-print platform boots and carried a handbag with what appears to be a cat-shaped handle.

Her DIY-looking T-shirt read "Let It Rock," and she tucked it into a plaid miniskirt. To complete the look, Cyrus also wore velvet heels with gray bows, fishnet tights, a white garter, and messy buns.

Her sleeveless top was made from black leather with silver sequin stars embroidered on it, while her miniskirt was covered in red-and-white sequined stripes from top to bottom.

Cyrus also wore silver jewelry, black knee-high boots with the same star pattern, and a spiked mullet.

While performing in Atlanta for the Music Midtown festival, Cyrus was photographed onstage wearing a halter shirt with a black collar and two shining hoops of fabric that draped across her chest.

She didn't wear anything else under the shirt, which showed many of her tattoos.

Her burgundy Gucci dress was covered in a sparkling blue fringe from top to bottom. It also had a thigh-high slit up its skirt, and a yellow feather belt across her hips.

Cyrus also carried a gold purse and wore metallic sandal heels.

Designed by Gucci and Balenciaga, her cream-colored suit was covered in a vibrant, floral print and the Balenciaga logo.

Cyrus wore it with a high-neck blouse underneath, a matching purse, and an oversize emerald ring.

The outfit included a sparkling blue bralette worn underneath a short coat crafted from rainbow-colored feathers. 

She also wore bedazzled platform sandals and a miniskirt made from pink lace, purple beads, and silver sequins.

The two-piece set had a backless halter top with rips in the front and a matching miniskirt with asymmetrical pleats.

She was performing "Party in the USA" when the top part of her outfit broke, forcing her to hold it up and quickly make her way backstage. Cyrus then threw on a red blazer and seamlessly carried out the rest of her performance.

"Everybody's definitely looking at me now," she then jokingly sang before adding: "I'm still in the most clothes I've ever worn onstage."

Her long-sleeved outfit was black and covered in tiny cutouts. The small circular ones extended from the garment's neckline to its pant legs, and a giant cutout with crisscross straps sat across its bodice.

Her Versace dress was strapless with a sharp, plunging neckline, cone top, and leather skirt.

Cyrus wore the bold garment with pointed pumps, black leather gloves, and her hair styled in loose waves.

She first hit the red carpet in a custom ensemble designed by Maison Margiela. The golden chain-link dress was entirely see-through and intricately designed with different patterns from top to bottom.

The metallic piece also showed off her many tattoos and paired perfectly with her blown-out hairstyle.

The custom Gucci gown had a thin bodice with a single strap, which barely covered her chest across one side of her body.

The revealing top design mirrored the gown's showstopping skirt, which was slit down the side starting at her waist.

Cyrus wore the dress with pointed pumps, a feather shawl, and a leather purse.

She was visiting New York City when she was photographed wearing a black, sleeveless gown that was see-through.

Designed by Ludovic de Saint Sernin, the dress had a mermaid-style skirt, a plunging neckline, and a piece of fabric tied across the collarbone.

Also in New York City, Cyrus wore a Schiaparelli couture design. It included a sleeveless, fishnet dress embellished with crystals and a fringe skirt, as well as a massive, fringe-covered coat.

She also carried a Schiaparelli purse with the brand's signature gold anatomy charms.

Michele walked the red carpet in a black tuxedo dress designed by Michael Kors.

The neckline dipped low, and a slit cut the skirt on one side, creating a sexy and balanced look. Michele also let the dress speak for itself, wearing black heels and simple jewelry.

Strong wore a floor-length, long-sleeve coat dress designed by Badgley Mischka. It had a pretty silhouette, with its collared neckline, belted waist, and full skirt.

However, the green dress was covered in an array of hot pink flowers from head to toe. The pattern was overwhelming to the eye, and the look might have been better if Strong wore the coat unbuttoned with an unpatterned shift underneath it to break up the colors.

Schiaparelli designed Erivo's taupe gown, which had a regal feel that set the tone for her role as host of the evening.

The gown's column skirt had a sheen to it, while the off-the-shoulder bodice was covered in sparkly, floral beading. The neckline hovered around Erivo's frame, playing with structure.

Holmes wore a custom Prada ensemble to the Tonys. The look featured the two main colors associated with "Wicked," as it had a high-neck, green blouse and a column-style pink skirt adorned with sparkly beading.

The two garments looked like they belonged to different outfits, and the green top in particular felt too casual for the Tonys. Holmes could have stood out on the red carpet if she had paired the skirt with a better top, but the look fell flat as it was.

Tamara Ralph Couture designed Amal Clooney's white gown, which had an off-the-shoulder neckline and hugged her figure before ending in a scalloped hem at her ankle.

Rows of pearls adorned the dress, making it look like the lawyer was dripping in the gems. White heels with a pointed detail completed her elegant ensemble.

George Clooney, on the other hand, just wore a black tuxedo and bow tie for the evening. It's a classic look, but it would have been nice to see him add a fashionable flair to the outfit through a brooch or other accessory.

Escola won the Tony for best performance by an actor in a leading role in a play on Sunday for their performance as Mary Todd Lincoln in "Oh, Mary!"

They accepted the award in a custom Wiederhoeft gown that paid tribute to Bernadette Peters, whom Escola used to emulate in YouTube videos and live performances. She also wore a similar dress when she won a Tony in 1999.

Escola's soft-blue gown had a corset bodice with a halter neckline. Ruched, off-the-shoulder sleeves made of sparkly fabric coordinated with a swath of matching fabric on Escola's waist, which gave way to a sparkly skirt. A long train trailed behind them, adding glamour to the look.

A red wig and choker tied Escola's outfit together.

Chenoweth attended the Tonys in a blue gown designed by Christian Siriano.

The corset bodice had a pointed neckline with exposed boning and sheer panels on the bodice. The asymmetrical skirt was also transparent, sitting atop a shorter bubble skirt that gave it volume.

Everything about Chenoweth's outfit looked like it belonged in 2012 instead of 2025, from the boning and sheer fabric to the electric-blue color. Chenoweth could have updated the look with modern accessories or a fuller skirt.

Raver-Lampman's deep-blue suit consisted of a jacket with a bow fastening and wide-legged pants.

She wore the suit with no top, exposing her black bra and giving the ensemble a sexy edge.

Genny designed Soo's dress, which was made of a sheer fabric in pale pink.

The bodice was busy, featuring one strap, a large bow covered in beading on the chest, and a cutout. A fabric ruffle sat on Soo's waist, and the skirt flowed to the floor.

Although the dress had interesting elements, like the bow and waist ruffle, the transparent fabric distracted from every other part of the look, making the outfit feel busier than it was. Because the fabric was such a statement, the dress would have been better for Soo if it didn't feature the bow or additional detailing, as it would have offered a cleaner look.

The actor and content creator chose an emerald green suit from Naked Wardrobe for the Tonys.

Allen wore the oversize jacket open, showing off a low-cut white blouse and the high waistline of his wide-legged trousers. Heeled, white boots peeked out from underneath the pants, and Allen's glasses conveyed a sophisticated feel for the ensemble.

Hough's white Christian Siriano gown was pretty. It had a form-fitting silhouette before poofing out in a mermaid skirt made of voluminous tulle.

However, the ensemble felt imbalanced because Hough didn't wear any jewelry with the look and kept her bob down.

The outfit would have felt more cohesive if she had added statement earrings or a bold necklace. As she wore it, it seemed like Hough just forgot to add accessories.

Sink, who was nominated for best performance by an actress in a leading role in a play for her performance in "John Proctor is the Villain," arrived at the Tonys in a custom Prada dress.

The silky, silver dress had a low, V-neckline, and it cinched at her waist before flowing into a floor-length skirt with a subtle train. Sparkly, clustered embellishments framed the neckline and formed a bow in the center for a pop of texture.

Paired with silver earrings, Sink's gown was glamorous without being over the top.

Twiggy Moore designed Lawrence's mermaid-style pink dress. The gown was covered in large black polka dots, a strip of black fabric on the neckline, and a coordinating one on the skirt, complete with a bow.

The dark color and size of the polka dots were too much for the dress, and the gown would have looked sleeker if the dots had been smaller or a paler hue.

Lawrence was nominated for best performance by a featured artist in a musical at the Tonys.

Criss won a Tony for best performance by an actor in a leading role in a musical in "Maybe Happy Ending," which also took home the award for best musical.

Criss accepted the award in a black tuxedo, pairing high-waisted, wide-legged pants with a cropped jacket. The jacket featured white lapels and white buttons, putting a fresh spin on the traditional tuxedo look.

Patrick Kenger, lead personal stylist and founder of Pivot Image Consulting, told BI that backless shoes like clogs and mules are having a moment thanks to their effortless fit and breathable design.

"A great quality about these shoes is that you can easily slip them on and off," he said.

Clogs bring a retro, chunkier look, while mules have a more streamlined feel. Both offer a practical mix of comfort and style for the season.

Shimmery finishes are stepping into the spotlight this season, showing up on everything from sneakers and heels to flats. And according to fashion stylist Hailey Genevieve, gold, silver, and bold metallic tones aren't going anywhere.

"Metallic colors are the perfect way to add a statement pop to any outfit," she told BI.

Low-top vintage sneakers are trending across fashion circles, worn by everyone from street-style stars to everyday trendsetters.

Kendra Sharpe, stylist and founder of Kendra Sharpe Styling, told BI, "Low and retro is the moment right now."

Kenger said that another bonus of these sneakers is their versatility, making them ideal for a range of summer outfits.

Woven styles are everywhere right now and will likely continue to be very popular this summer.

"The woven design gives these shoes a textured look, plus added breathability," Kenger told BI.

Their airy construction and laid-back look make them easy to pair with just about anything, from casual shorts to dressier outfits.

The jelly shoes that were popular in the 90s are back with sleeker shapes and grown-up colors that feel playful but polished.

Available in all different colors and styles, they're sure to be the life of the pool party. Sharpe suggests trying the look as either a sandal or flat.

According to Kenger, cross-strap leather sandals are an elegant choice that pair well with summer fabrics like linen.

He said the sleek, structured design is ideal for dressing up casual outfits, making these a solid pick for everything from city strolls to dinner out.

Chunky sneakers and heavy platforms are taking a backseat as fashion shifts toward lighter, more wearable options.

Kenger recommends opting for more refined silhouettes like canvas shoes, which offer a clean, breathable, and easy-to-style alternative that pairs well with everything from denim to linen.

Classic plastic flip-flops may have had a brief moment, but Genevieve said they're best reserved for the beach or pool.

To keep your look elevated, the stylist recommends opting for a thong micro-heel, which is a sleek blend of a flip-flop and a kitten heel. It's an easy upgrade that works for brunch, lunch, or a night out.

Sharpe told BI that overtly branded sandals are on their way out. Instead, she said to take your quiet luxury vibe into summer with sleek sandals that have minimal branding.

"This creates a more timeless look and an added level of chicness to your looks," the stylist said.

As wonderful and classic as ballet flats are, according to Genevieve, they're a bit too safe for this season. For a more exciting and trendy replacement, she suggests a woven style instead.

Or, for something more casual, Kenger said a more breathable and lightweight mesh flat will do the trick.

Though the Gabriela Cadena piece appeared conservative from the front with its solid gray fabric, it was actually entirely sheer down its sides.

Only clusters of silver sparkles and see-through mesh sat atop her legs, hips, and torso. Though it worked then, the partial nudity might not fly at this year's event.

Roberto Cavalli designed Jenner's sheer black gown, which might not make it past security at Cannes today.

The long-sleeved piece, crafted from mesh, showed most of her body. She wore only high-waisted underwear beneath it.

A snake print and light glitter made the dress even more dramatic.

That year, she ditched a bra when she wore her tulle gown, which showed her chest with sheer straps that acted as a top.

Its long, tiered skirt was also see-through and voluminous, though not enough to get in the way of other people walking the red carpet.

Every inch of the actor's Peter Dundas gown was dramatic that year.

It had giant puffed sleeves, a bow that extended past her torso, and a skirt train that was so long it covered numerous steps behind her.

The gown was the definition of voluminous, especially because she needed at least two people to help her get up the stairs.

The model walked the Cannes red carpet in a black number from Đỗ Long. It was made from mesh and therefore entirely sheer.

It was also cut in a daring style. The outfit featured a backless halter top, a keyhole cutout at the chest, a thong bottom, and two thin strips of fabric in place of a skirt.

Hadid wore a plain black gown at Cannes in 2021.

However, her long-sleeved Schiaparelli dress was daring with a scooped neckline that plunged to her waist.

The model also wore a golden necklace shaped like lungs to cover her chest. Though not technically nude, wearing the same pieces at the 2025 event would be risky.

The TV star was a vibrant pop of color on the red carpet thanks to her strapless yellow dress. It was crafted from tulle in tiers of ruffles that extended into a long, thick train.

Because the skirt pieces have since been banned, there's a chance that Bodi wouldn't be able to wear the same dress to this year's event.

The model wore a simple thong beneath a sleeveless look crafted from strings of crystals, which showed her body.

To complete the look, Depina sported see-through sandals and delicate jewelry.

For one red carpet, the French model wore a black Stéphane Rolland gown. It was made with thick black fabric that draped around her head and hips in a circle and down her legs as a skirt.

What made the ensemble even more daring, though, were the layered rope necklaces she wore as a top. It was bold enough to possibly break this year's dress code.

Saint Laurent created the brown halter dress she wore last year, which was almost entirely sheer. Only her waist and hips were wrapped with extra fabric to create a more opaque look.

It might not have been Hadid's most dramatic look at the film festival, but it was one of her most see-through.

The actor and model wrote on Instagram at the time that she wanted her Cannes outfit to honor Cambodian fashion.

So she tapped designer brand De l'Elegance to create her strapless gown, matching hat, and extensive green train. It was so long, however, that similar trains might not be allowed at future Cannes festivals.

Versace designed the actor's sleeveless slip, which was covered from top to bottom in translucent sequins. The dress also had a cowl neckline and the brand's signature hardware in silver across each strap.

She wore it with black patent-leather kitten heels, a micro purse in black, and small diamond stud earrings.

Also in Versace, Hathaway wore a white button-down blouse, a loose black blazer with a gold logo embellishment at its pocket, and straight-leg trousers.

Her party look was cool and chic on its own, but it became more feminine thanks to her choice of accessories.

The actor carried a sparkling gold purse, sported large sunglasses on her face, and donned heeled sandals with beaded detailing.

Her black Versace number had long sleeves, a deep V-neckline, crystal buttons, and an above-the-knee skirt.

The garment gave a feminine edge to a classic menswear piece.

It was her silver accents, however, that really stole the show. To complete her look, she added thick sunglasses, silver sandals with bow straps, and a shimmering purse with ring handles.

Getty wore a yellow Versace minidress with long sleeves, an all-over shell print, and a plunging neckline that revealed the middle section of her torso. One of Versace's signature gold safety pins held the garment together.

She completed the look with classic accessories, including black pumps, a crystal anklet with a cross charm, a gold purse, and hoop earrings.

For the Moda Operandi party, the "Espresso" singer stepped out in a sleeveless Versace dress that hugged her body and shimmered in the light.

It had sheer sequins all over its baby-blue fabric, a gold safety pin that pulled it together at the hips, and a thigh-high slit in its skirt. For shoes, Carpenter wore her signature platforms in the form of tan sandals.

The fashion designer wore one of the brightest looks of the night: a hot-pink suit over a yellow blouse printed with shell images.

She also wore platform Versace heels in the same pink shade, dangling crystal earrings, and rectangular sunglasses with cherry-red frames.

Domingo attended pre-Met Gala events throughout the weekend, and his cream suit from Eleven Sixteen for Wayman + Micah's party spoke directly to the 2025 Met Gala theme.

The bold tailoring of his cream suit represented Black dandyism, while the thick material and checked pattern made it feel modern. Domingo's tie coordinated with the suit, and his white shoes completed the outfit effortlessly.

On Sunday, Henson also played with the silhouette of a suit, arriving at the LaQuan Smith Met Gala party in a fitted jacket and matching wide-legged trousers.

The jacket was open on Henson's chest, mirroring the pointed hemline that cinched her waist. Sparkles covered the entire outfit, giving it a glitzy edge.

Williams is also a Met Gala co-chair this year, and he arrived at the dinner that Wintour hosts the night before the event in a mix of high- and low-fashion garments.

He paired a green blouse and a brown sweatshirt with khaki trousers and a Louis Vuitton trench coat. His coat matched his bag, and Williams added sunglasses and a yellow cap to the look.

The ensemble effortlessly blended styles, perhaps offering a clue as to how Williams might be approaching his Met Gala look.

Erivo's Saint Laurent suit was double-breasted, and the coordinating pants flared wide. Her blouse underneath featured a colorful pattern of stripes, bringing out the purple hue of her tie.

Tinted sunglasses and Christian Louboutin shoes completed the look.

Page's Brioni suit was bright blue and had a classic pinstripe pattern, which the actor juxtaposed with a more relaxed pink T-shirt.

After being turned into a couch meme at her very first Met Gala the year prior (more on that in a second), Kardashian chose to play it safe for the 2014 theme, "Charles James: Beyond Fashion." 

Alber Elbaz designed her custom Lanvin gown, which featured a black satin belt and a thigh-high slit. 

The gown was undoubtedly pretty and would've looked great for a movie premiere or awards show, but it was nothing special for a night that encourages celebrities to push the envelope.

Kardashian's ensemble was actually supposed to look completely different. She revealed on her now-inactive website that the gown was originally made of "this amazing leather with metallic detailing." Her design team only decided to redo it in blue satin at the last minute.  

Kardashian still planned to pair her new gown with a chunky belt and leather cuffs, but she ditched them before walking the red carpet because, according to E!, they were "a bit too rock 'n' roll."

As a Met Gala novice, it was clear Kardashian didn't want to rock the boat too much on the carpet. Still, we wish we could've seen the far edgier look she envisioned in 2014.

Kardashian wore a metallic silver Balmain gown with a thigh-high slit for the "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology" theme in 2016. 

We loved the fabric of the silver dress, and Kardashian took a bit of a risk with her beauty by bleaching her eyebrows. However, the look didn't stand out among a sea of similar metallic looks. 

Kardashian was also overshadowed by her date, then-husband Kanye West. The rapper made headlines that year for daring to wear denim to the Met Gala. 

When looking back on her Met Gala looks in 2019, Kardashian revealed that she felt insecure ahead of the event because she hadn't "lost all of my baby weight" after giving birth to her son Saint in December 2015, which is likely why she stuck to her usual silhouette.

The "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" Met Gala will likely go down as one of the boldest in the event's history. Stars like Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and Blake Lively delivered stunning looks referencing everything from the Pope to the Sistine Chapel. 

Because of all the eye-catching looks, Kardashian didn't make waves with her custom gold Versace dress, although the number did nab her a few spots on best-dressed lists. 

Kardashian personally designed the chain-mail gown with Donatella Versace, and we loved the dark eye makeup and high pony she paired it with.

While the reality TV star hadn't yet mastered how to steal the show at the Met Gala, her style was definitely becoming a little bolder.

At first glance, Kardashian's off-the-shoulder white dress for the "Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between" theme might seem even simpler than the gowns we've already discussed. 

But the chic and beachy outfit, which Kardashian paired with sandals and minimal makeup, felt like a statement from the reality TV star. On a night when everyone would dial it up and go avant-garde, Kardashian decided to do something completely different — and it worked. One headline praised Kardashian's "seriously toned down" look.

"I figured everyone was going to go really over the top, and I just wanted to be really simple," Kardashian, who attended the event without West for the first time, told Vogue on the red carpet.

The 2017 Met Gala also happened just a few months after Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris, and $11 million in jewels were stolen from her hotel room. The simple Vivienne Westwood dress and her lack of accessories felt like a statement from Kardashian, who later discussed the trauma she experienced from the robbery.

Designed by Peter Dundas, the dress was covered with strategically placed crystals and featured a long train of white feathers. Kardashian revealed on Instagram that her inspiration had been Cher's iconic 1974 Met Gala outfit.

Other naked dresses were popular on the red carpet that year. Stars like Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez won praise for their sheer numbers, and Rihanna had the most standout look of the night by upstaging everyone with her custom Guo Pei gown — now one of the most iconic Met Gala looks of all time. 

But Kardashian's gown was bold, stunning, and told a story. It was the first inkling of her realizing she could become a force on the Met Gala red carpet.

Kardashian wore a custom John Galliano dress to the "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" gala, which had a "Garden of Time" dress code.

Kardashian's look leaned into the garden aspect of the dress code, though it clearly had a through-line to her previous Met Gala looks as well.

Like dresses she wore in previous years, the gown was metallic and featured a dramatic, waist-cinching corset. Floral detailing adorned the strapless bodice, while the floor-length skirt was made of interlocking, floral appliqué that showed peeks of Kardashian's legs. Her blond hair added to the edgy feel of the look.

The gown was well suited to the theme, but the gray shrug Kardashian wore atop looked disjointed with the rest of the look. The outfit would have been stronger if Kardashian had let the dress speak for itself.

Kardashian arrived at the "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty" Met Gala in a Schiaparelli gown made almost entirely of pearl strands.

The strings of pearls created a halter-style bodice and barely-there skirt, which sat atop taupe shapewear.

Lagerfeld often gravitated toward pearls in his designs, making the ensemble an apt choice for the ball. However, the look also referenced Kardashian's 2007 Playboy shoot, for which she posed only wearing pearls, so it made even more of a statement.

Kris Jenner said her now meme-ified comment, "You're doing amazing, sweetie," to Kardashian during the shoot, as captured on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."

Kardashian also celebrated her Skims empire with the shapewear she wore under the pearls, using the Met Gala as a platform for her own success. The company was worth $3.2 billion as of 2022.

Kardashian arrived in the most jaw-dropping look of the night at the 2021 Met Gala with the theme, "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion." Her Balenciaga bodysuit and oversized T-shirt dress covered her from head to toe, including a face-covering mask and gloves.

She was only visible in silhouette, with her ponytail and a train flowing behind her as she walked the Met Gala carpet.

It was an instant meme because of its avant-garde nature. Still, Balenciaga's creative director, Demna Gvasalia, later explained that the outfit was designed to highlight how iconic Kardashian's body had become in pop culture. 

"People would know instantly it was Kim because of her silhouette. They wouldn't even need to see her face, you know?" Gvasalia told Vogue at the time. "And I think that the whole power of her celebrity, that people wouldn't need to see her face to know it's her."

Kardashian arrived at the "Camp: Notes on Fashion" gala in a Thierry Mugler gown that hugged her figure and was adorned with crystals. The dress appeared sheer, as it matched her skin tone.

After the gala, Kardashian revealed she went to extreme lengths to wear the skin-tight dress, including taking corset lessons to breathe in it.

She also couldn't go to the bathroom in the dress, and in a clip from "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," she said she was willing to urinate on herself in the gown if there was an emergency. 

The dress was pretty, but Kardashian's drastic measures made the dress so memorable.

Kardashian made her Met Gala debut in 2013 when she was expecting her first child, North West. 

The gala's theme was "Punk: Chaos to Couture," and Kardashian wore a long-sleeve, floral Riccardo Tisci dress. It had a high neckline, which contrasted with its daring, thigh-high slit. Matching, open-toe shoes completed the look.

Kardashian told Vogue in 2019 that Tisci wanted the floral pattern to symbolize sending a pregnant woman flowers, which she said was "such a sweet message." Tisci also told Kardashian that Anna Wintour wanted her to wear the floral dress, so she did.

Social media users immediately took to Twitter to criticize the look after Kardashian walked the red carpet. Many compared the dress to a couch, to the star's dismay.

"I was crying, like, the whole way home because I just couldn't believe it," Kardashian said in the same interview with Vogue.

Looking back at the dress, Kim has a different perspective. "Now I love it," she told the magazine. "Now it's, like, sick."

Although it wasn't for the reasons she wanted, Kardashian was the talk of the event from her very first Met Gala, which was even more impressive considering she was attending as Kanye West's date.

Kardashian made headlines when she arrived at the 2022 "In America: An Anthology of Fashion" Met Gala in the dress Marilyn Monroe wore to sing "Happy Birthday" to President John F. Kennedy in 1962.

The sheer Jean Louis dress was embellished from head to toe, and Kardashian dyed her hair platinum blond to fully recreate Monroe's look.

"In a sense, it's the original naked dress. That's why it was so shocking," Kardashian told Vogue of the gown.

She borrowed the dress from Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum in Orlando, which acquired it for $4.81 million in 2016, according to a Ripley's press release. Kardashian wore the gown on the red carpet, but she changed into a replica immediately after because it was so fragile. 

Kardashian once again took extreme measures to fit into Monroe's dress. She said she lost 16 pounds in three weeks so she could wear it. 

The conversation around the dress continued for weeks after the Met Gala, as people accused Kardashian of damaging the gown when she wore it.

In June 2022, Ripley's and Kardashian sent Business Insider a joint statement saying she "did not, in any way, damage the garment in the short amount of time it was worn at the Met Gala." 

Kardashian solidified her status as the Met Gala it-girl with her Marilyn Monroe look, which was truly a once-in-a-lifetime fashion moment.

The white gown had a halter neckline with silver embellishments on the bodice.

She paired the dress with black mesh gloves and a red rose to fit the "Poiret: King of Fashion" theme.

It was an understated look compared to other outfits Rihanna wore to the Met Gala in the years to come.

The suit included a jacket with puffy sleeves, a bow tie, and ankle-length pants. She paired it with black gloves and black pumps.

The jacket's dramatic, oversize shoulder pads fit the event's "The Model as Muse" theme. Rihanna's edgy pixie cut completed the chic look.

The semi-sheer dress designed by Stella McCartney had a scalloped, one-shoulder neckline and a slit on the skirt, showing off her criss-cross pumps.

The gown was eye-catching, but Rihanna's long, bright-red side-braid gave the look a pop of color.

The form-fitting gown Rihanna wore to the "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations" gala had long sleeves, a boat neckline, and flowed to the floor.

It hugged Rihanna's figure, and the gown's texturing caught the light as she walked the red carpet.

Rihanna's two-piece featured a long-sleeve crop top with pointed sleeves and a high-waisted skirt with a side train. She wore a sparkly choker that blended with the neckline of the dress.

The ensemble's backless crop top felt modern and fresh.

Rihanna solidified her status as a Met Gala legend at the "China: Through the Looking Glass" gala.

Her custom yellow look sat off her shoulders. It featured faux fur sleeves and trim, and intricate detailing adorned the ensemble.

The singer making her way down the red carpet while her long train flowed behind her will always be an iconic Met Gala moment.

The 2018 Met Gala theme was "Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between." Rihanna appropriately went with a Comme des Garçons design.

The dress was made entirely of colorful, three-dimensional petals that floated around her. Rihanna paired the look with red heels, lacing her thighs, and pink-toned makeup.

Rihanna's jewel-encrusted silver look featured a mini dress, a separate, longer skirt, and a jacket. A large, pointed headpiece and silver jewelry coordinated with the look.

Demna Gvasalia designed the Fenty founder's custom Balenciaga coatdress. Its collar popped around her shoulders, and the skirt was a subtle mermaid.

Rihanna paired the look with a beanie hat, a diamond necklace, and a stunning crystal headpiece. 

Rihanna wore a custom Valentino Haute Couture gown to the "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty" gala.

The gown's form-fitting bodice showed off her baby bump with a rosette in the center, though Rihanna covered it with a hooded, rosette-covered jacket and fingerless gloves when she walked the red carpet. Her dropped-waist skirt flowed into a long train, which trailed behind her on the carpet.

Rihanna completed the look with funky sunglasses that had eyelashes on them.

Zac Posen and Kim Jones made the couture GapStudio ensemble for Moore.

It had a ruched bodice with a halter strap, a cinched waistband, and a flowing skirt that grazed the floor.

Moore wore the dress with a cream blazer draped over her shoulders, a statement diamond bangle, numerous sparkling rings, and long earrings that almost touched her shoulders.

The outfit was simple, elegant, and made perfectly for Moore.

Some aspects of the Carolina Herrera look worked for Bell, like its vibrant red color and its long, wide pant legs that made the petite actor look taller.

Other areas, though, were confusing. Its strapless bodice, for example, would have better suited a formal gown than a casual jumpsuit.

Bell could have avoided the fashion mishap by either wearing a dress or choosing a sleeved one-piece.

Williams walked the red carpet in a black Stella McCartney number. Her off-the-shoulder dress had sliced cutouts from top to bottom and a form-fitting skirt that nearly reached her ankles.

The garment stood out on its own, but Williams made it even better with accessories. She wore semi-sheer gloves, layered diamond necklaces, dangling earrings, and a variation of the Royal Oak watch from Audemars Piguet.

She looked simultaneously edgy and chic, creating a style that is entirely her own.

It's almost impossible for Johansson to look bad. Still, her Tom Ford gown left something to be desired.

The black halter piece was pretty plain with a V-neck top, a form-fitted skirt that reached the floor, and a thin gold clip that created light ruching at the waist.

Her gold choker, mixed-metal rings, and silver square earrings helped enhance the look slightly, but the Roberto Coin accessories weren't enough to make the outfit memorable.

The musician posed on the red carpet in a three-piece set that was effortlessly cool.

His black blazer was studded with gold buttons down its lapels and his trousers were fitted at the ankle to create a unique silhouette. A black tie contrasted his white button-down shirt.

Snoop Dogg completed the outfit with chain-embedded sunglasses, diamond rings, a silver square watch, and green Oxford sneakers.

Sheeran is known to attend most events in T-shirts and cargo pants, so it was nice to see the musician dressed up for the Time100 gala.

That said, the pink shade of his blazer and matching trousers was too light for him. It washed out his skin and was too close to his red hair color.

The white T-shirt and Nike sneakers he wore also felt too casual for the gala event.

Nguyen, who recently went to space with Blue Origin, walked the red carpet in a white gown that glamorously reinvented menswear.

Its blazer top was full on one side and cut in half on the other, revealing a bow waistband and her pleated skirt.

To complete the look, Nguyen wore simple black sandals and styled her hair in thin braids.

King arrived at the Time100 event in a mint-green gown. Though the color was a fun choice for the journalist, the garment didn't seem to fit right.

Its long sleeves had excess fabric at the wrists, the ruched neckline sat awkwardly at her chest, and its long skirt covered her shoes.

King, however, nailed her accessories. She wore sparkle-covered pumps, layered necklaces, and long earrings that shone through her hair.

Zuhair Murad designed an off-the-shoulder dress that perfectly suited the "It Ends With Us" actor.

It had a corseted bodice, a form-fitted waist, and extra fabric attached at the hips to create a fuller skirt. Its red fabric was also a unique shade — not as bright as the carpet, but not light enough to be pink.

Lively made the outfit even more showstopping with an assortment of jade accessories, from green bracelets and rings to statement earrings.
